Late news the golf tournament was cancelled due to weather, it has been rescheduled to October 14th. The St. Louis Council of the Navy League with be participating in and hosting several key events in the coming months, the first of these being St. Louis Navy Week from September 2-8. Navy Week will include a visit to St. Louis by Commander (Sel) Eric Turner and members of the crew of the USS St. Louis (LCS-19), visits to local schools by the crew of the USS Constitution (the oldest commissioned ship in the US Navy) and Explosive OrdnanceDisposal Group 2, and performances by the Navy Band Great Lakes. Navy Week will coincide with the Spirit of St. Louis Air Show & STEM Expo 2019, featuring the U.S. Navy Blue Angels. Since 2005, the Navy Week program has served as the Navy’s primary outreach effort around the country.The last time the Navy Week program was featured in St. Louis was 2016. The Council will be welcoming the 2020 Class of the Naval Command College to St. Louis on September 15 and 16. Since its founding in 1956, more than 2,100 officers from 91 nations have completed the program, with more than half reaching flag rank. NCC alumni include ministers of defense, ambassadors, heads of state, and heads of services. Captain Kevin McGowan, the Director of the Naval Command College, along with his staff, and 58 officers from 55 countries will be the guests of the Navy League at a dinner at the Missouri Athletic Club on September 16. The St. Louis Council’s annual Navy Ball will be held on Saturday, October 19th at the Missouri Athletic Club downtown. The guest speaker for the event is St. Louis native, Admiral Philip S.Davidson. ADM Davidson is a 1982 graduate of the US Naval Academy and currently serves as the Commander of United States Indo-Pacific Command.
